Where Can I Get a Rapid COVID Test?

Advanced Urgent Care & Occupational Medicine has clinics that offer curbside COVID tests in Westminster.

The Westminster clinics offer two types of rapid COVID tests, including:

  • Antigen Test
  • RT-PCR Molecular Test

The Westminster – Wadsworth Pkwy clinic is located at 9960 Wadsworth Pkwy in the Colonnades at Standley Lake near the intersection of Wadsworth Pkwy and Church Ranch Blvd. The clinic is near Broomfield, Arvada, Leyden, and Thornton.

The Westminster – Federal Blvd clinic is at 7320 N Federal Blvd and serves Federal Heights and Thornton.

Get a Westminster COVID test 7 days a week at any of the Westminster clinics with same-day testing available.

How Accurate is the COVID Rapid Test?

The COVID rapid tests offered at the Westminster clinics are administered in a point-of-care setting. This means the testing performed at an urgent care is regulated by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, or CDPHE. The state regulators only permit the use of certain tests, which includes the tests offered at Advanced Urgent Care.

For this reason, the COVID rapid tests are highly accurate. Molecular tests like the RT-PCR tests are slightly more accurate than antigen tests, according to the Cleveland Clinic. This is due to the molecular tests detecting the virus in nucleic acid versus detecting proteins from the virus.

How Soon After Exposure Can I Be Tested?

According to the CDC, if you were exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID and you have symptoms, you should get tested immediately. The COVID antigen test is ideal because it is typically used if you have symptoms or were exposed. Visit the CDC’s website by clicking here for the most up-to-date quarantine guidelines.

If you were exposed, but do not show symptoms, the CDC recommends getting tested at least 5 days after the exposure.

What is a PCR COVID Test?

This PCR test is an all-in-one molecular test that not only tests for COVID, but also for flu A&B and RSV at no additional cost. It’s one swab with four test results. Click here to learn more about this test.

The difference between antigen and molecular tests is that antigen tests detect the virus by looking for proteins from the virus while molecular tests, like the PCR test, look for genetic material. The PCR test is available at all Advanced Urgent Care clinics.

How Long Does a PCR Test Take? Can I Get PCR Test Results Same Day?

The PCR test takes a few minutes. It is a nasal swab that is collected while you stay in your vehicle. Turnaround time on results is the same day you are tested and results are sent via email and text message. This makes results easily available for travel or whenever you need to provide test results.

Other Types of Westminster Rapid Tests: Where to Get a Strep Test?

The Westminster urgent cares not only offer same-day COVID testing, but also same-day testing for strep throat.

How Long Does a Strep Test Take? What Happens if I Test Positive for Strep?

The rapid strep test does not take long. The test is a throat swab, which is collected while you wait curbside in your vehicle. Results are available the same day as testing. This test is available at all of Advanced Urgent Care & Occupational Medicine’s clinics.

If you test positive for strep it is very important that you schedule a visit with a provider of your choice, or with a provider at Advanced Urgent Care & Occupational Medicine. This is because if left untreated, strep can progress to rheumatic fever or scarlet fever. According to the CDC, rheumatic fever is a disease that can affect the heart, brain, joints, and skin. Scarlet fever is a bacterial illness that produces a bright red rash that covers a majority of the body. If scarlet fever is left untreated it can progress to rheumatic fever.
